In early August, as part of an overall counteroffensive, 2nd Panzer Division was to spearhead the Mortain counterattack and drive for the coast. As the division advanced towards the village of Le Mesnil-Adelee, it encountered the lead tanks of the U.S. 3rd Armored Division. A tank duel quickly broke out as both sides jockeyed for position.
Objectives: Your company is to advance west and take the hilltop chateau, which is in a hedgerow enclosure. Your platoon is tasked with attaining the hill, entering the chateau area, and destroying all the emplacements inside. The remaining platoons of your company will be echeloned to the north of your position in support. If you are successful, look north from the chateau for any enemy armor that has not been destroyed.
